Workout Hair: Pretty And Practical Styles For The Gym

Keeping your hair up and out of our face is an absolute must when it comes to a great workout, but it should never come at the expense of your beauty game. And it’s not good enough to rock an adorable workout hairstyle if it falls out the second you break a sweat. Taking a spinning, dancing or kickboxing class means a ton of motion. With classes like pilates, zumba, yoga and barre, you probably do a lot of posing and don’t want to break your concentration to gather all your hair back up into another bun when it falls out (and you know it will). We have you covered the next time you work up a serious sweat. Try one of our favourite workout hairstyles below, to keep your focus on your workout and not what's happening on your head.

For the past few seasons, braids have been taking the beauty world by full force, and the cornrow braid is not only functional for keeping your hair up, but totally on-trend. Part your hair on your left side. Start braiding to the right of the part along your hairline. As you braid, add in pieces from both sides to continue down the side of your head, but as you add the pieces, pull them underneath the braid. This creates an inside-out French-braid look. Braid down to behind your ear, then stop adding pieces. Finish braiding regularly to the ends and secure them with an elastic. A few spritzes of Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Crystal Shine Hairspray and you’re good to go.

A perfectly messy, loose bun is another great workout option, because as pieces fall out and it gets ‘messier’, it still looks cute.  Apply a dollop of Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Crystal Shine Heat Protection Shine Spray to towel-dried hair. Use your fingers to distribute the product evenly from roots to ends. Blow-dry four-inch sections of hair (using medium heat), holding the dryer three inches from your head, and use a paddle brush to straighten and smooth each section. Pull your hair into a loose ponytail, and secure it with an elastic at your crown. Twist and wrap your hair into a messy bun, then loop the ends through the elastic. Run your fingers through the front of your hair to loosen it from the elastic and add texture. Slide in a thin headband two inches from your hairline. Mist your entire head with Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Biotin+ Volume Hairspray to secure your style.

A sleek side ponytail is a more chic version of the usual ‘everyday pony’, so why not rock it during your workout? Start with super-smooth and shiny hair by running a flat-iron through your whole head of hair. Make a centre part, and gather hair into a low pony. Take a one-inch section of hair from the bottom of your pony; wrap it around the elastic so the band is completely covered. Bobby-pin underneath to secure the pony and finish your look with Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Crystal Shine Hairspray.

Just because you're focusing on exercise doesn't mean you can't look hot. Think beyond the haphazard pony or top knot before hitting the gym. Grab your favourite products from the Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME line and try out a new ‘do the next time you break a sweat.
