Short Today, Long Tomorrow – Hair Extensions

Hair extensions are the secret behind the miraculous hair growth shown by stars and celebrities everywhere. They look sassy with a pixie today and sport long flowing hair just a few hours later. We provide information on the ways to wear and handle hair extensions. They may become part of your styling arsenal as well.

Many women dream of thick long hair. Hair extensions can make this dream come true in a few hours.

The Ins and Outs of Hair Extensions

Hair extensions may consist of real or artificial hair. Strand by strand, the hair extensions are spliced into the fabric of your own hair. They add length and thickness to hair.

There are quite a few methods to splice hair extensions into natural hair. Most of these methods involve the use of heat to accomplish the bonding of natural hair with the extensions. The heat-melt glue splices the extensions to the natural hair.

Ultra-sound mediated bonding methods are a popular alternative to using heat-melt glue. In this method, tiny strands of hair are attached to keratin platelets. These platelets are placed next to the natural hair and bonded by means of ultra-sound treatment. The ultra-sound waves change the keratin structure in such a way that they bond with the natural hair.

In the simplest and fastest hair extension method, plaited hair extensions or hair pieces are horizontally clipped or glued into the natural hair.

Stars Wearing Hair Extensions

Long, thick hair is considered the crowning glory of women. Full hair is often associated with health, wealth, and feminine beauty. It certainly appeals to both men and women. Small wonder everybody wants this rich bouncy mane on their heads. Hair extensions can give you this full head of long hair. Even though you may have a red carpet at home, walking on it is hardly the reason for wanting beautiful long hair. However, most of us feel an inkling of the same pressures as the stars in the limelight whose livelihood depends on representing a picture of health, beauty, and style. Televised gala events, a new role in a movie or a promotional tour are all reasons for stars and celebrities to change their appearances and hairstyles. Well-known stars use hair extensions and hair fortifications for their playful image changes.

Hair extensions require special care, and they last only for a little while. As the hair grows, the spots where the hair extensions are spliced with the natural hair become more noticeable. At this time, new extensions must be spliced into the hair. Usually, hair extensions last about six to eight months. This problem does not exist if you decide to use clip-in strands of hair instead.

How to Care for Hair with Extensions

Allow 24 hours of no shampoo, hair care or styling after the extensions are spliced into your hair.

Do not stress the splicing between natural hair and extensions by washing your hair in the upside down position.

Brush your hair two or three times daily from the roots to the hair ends. Be sure to use a special brush for hair with extensions. In these brushes, neighbouring bristles are of different length.

Do not go to bed with damp or wet hair. This could lead to matted hair. Braiding your hair before bedtime works well.
