Men’s Hair Trends Summer 2015

Guys, while you’re working towards that beach body don’t forget to keep your hairstyle on point this summer.  Your hair is one of the easiest ways to switch up your look for the season, and way more impactful than a wardrobe makeover. Celebrity hairstylist Richard Collins, responsible for styling some of the most famous men’s heads in Hollywood, breaks down a few of this season’s hottest men’s styles.

Call it a man bun or a topknot, but Collins says this style has sky-rocketed this season. If you’re a guy with lots of hair, pick it up into an artfully disheveled mess at the back of your head and you’ll be hitting all the right style notes for summer. The styling of a man bun is surprisingly easy. All you need to do is to grab all the hair that you want to be tied into a bun and loop it along itself. You first pass an elastic band along the length of the to-be-tied hair and then your pass the band again through the length of the hair but, this time, you stop halfway through the length and choke the hair with the band. Any hair that is left dangling is then looped around the bun so as to keep all the hair neatly in place. Finish the look with Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Elastin Curls and Moisture Soft Toussle Spray for a messy, textured appearance.

The modern pompadour is another style that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, and Collins says it’s surprisingly versatile. The extremity of the cut can be varied to suit your age, profession, face shape, personal style, etc. This season’s pompadour features a more extreme skin fade at the back and sides, resulting in a look that’s vintage but not dated, classic but also edgy. Start with towel-dried hair, and using a brush and blow dryer, dry the hair on top up and towards the back to give it height. Once the hair is dry, work a little Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Crystal Shine and Hold Transparent Polishing Cream through it. Start small and build up; you can always add more later, but you can’t take away when you’ve added too much. When the product is evenly distributed, fine-tune the style with any tweaks it takes to get the exact height and shape you’re looking for. Set the hair with a light coating of Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Crystal Shine and Hold Laminating Shine Hair Spray when everything is in place.

Classic and unquestionably masculine, the high and tight (or buzz cut) has been trending for a while now and Collins says it remains one of the most popular styles of the season. Easily achieved, suitable for pretty much everyone and practical once it starts to heat up, it’s a sharp and hassle-free style. Whether you’ve got a beard or are clean-shaven, the high and tight style is a great look for any man. The high and tight doesn’t require any product or maintenance, but it’s worth noting that too much UV exposure can mean your hair ages quicker, leaving it looking and feeling thinner. To counteract this effect, Collins recommends regularly using a shampoo and conditioner with UV filters like the Schwarzkopf essence ULTIME Diamond Color and Radiance line.

With unbearable hot days in the forecast, that shaggy ‘do just isn't going to cut it anymore, guys.  But not to worry fellas, Schwarzkopf has you covered with the trends designed to not only survive the summer heat, but also keep you looking good in the process.
