Valentino women are soft, romantic, and with a weakness for nostalgia. For them, the hair stylists created a French braid which wraps once around the entire head. Hint: Condition your hair first so that it shines beautifully. Proceed as follows: Part your hair and neatly split off a thin wide strand. Then start on the French braid: As you braid, alternately bring a thin strand into the braid from the left and right. Ensure that the strand is always brought in from the top and work with even tension. Work your way from the part, over the top of the head to the opposite ear, and on down over the middle back of the head and down to the neck. Secure the end of the braid with an elastic and carefully hide the tips under the braid. Finish by applying hairspray to the hairdo
We saw this casual undone look with the American designer Nanette Lepore. Proceed as follows: Use your fingers to make an uneven centre part and tease the lengths slightly. Then start braiding a French braid on one side of the part. Alternately bring a thin strand into the braid from the left and right. As you braid, take care to ensure that you always bring the strand into the braid from below to create the superimposed effect. Work all the way to the neck and continue with a normal braid from there. Secure the end of the braid with an elastic. Repeat these steps on the other side of the part. Then use your fingers to carefully loosen a few strands in the braids. Wrap each braid into a bun at the neck and secure with hair clips and pins
Things are casually elegant for the designer duo Viktor & Rolf. Proceed as follows: To create the matte look, work dry shampoo into your hair and brush it out. Then use your fingers to make an uneven part and tease the lengths slightly. Separate a strand at the top side of your head and make a normal braid (do not secure it with an elastic). Then pull the braid and the remaining hair together in the neck and tie together with an elastic. Make the ponytail into a normal braid and also secure the end with an elastic. Use a bit of wax to pull the ends of the hair apart and shape them
The sleek Moschino braided hairstyle is very glamorous. Proceed as follows: Work heat protectant into your hair and work on it strand by strand with a straightening iron. Then spread hair oil on your hands and wet the hair slightly with it. Split the hair into two strands in the centre of the neck and tie it into ponytails. Braid both ponytails into normal braids and secure the respective ends with elastics. Now move one of the braids up over the head and secure it with hair clips. Also secure the end of the braid at the base of the other braid (on the opposite side) with hair clips. Then secure the second braid with hair pins and hair clips to form a loose bun. Shine spray finishes it off perfectly
The Gretchen Jones braided hairstyle is a sophisticated modification of the French braid with a young and simple look. Proceed as follows: Divide the hair into four sections: Loosely pin the ponytail up, lay the left and right side section forward over the shoulder, and allow the remaining hair to fall down over the back. Use your fingers to comb the ponytail back and use an elastic to tie it into a loop at the top back of the head. Then the side sections are braided into French braids down to the neck, with additional strands only being brought in from the hairline side! Separate a thin, wide strand at the temple and start braiding. As you braid, ensure that the strand is always brought in from the top. When you reach the neck, continue forming a normal braid down to about a hand width from the ends of your hair. Repeat these steps on the opposite side. When you are done, tie the two ends of the braids together with a thin silk band, for example
The undone or sleek look remains current. Braided hairstyles where all of the hair is braided tightly against the head are new. Alexander McQueen, for example, surprised with braided hairstyles with particularly fine braids wrapped around the head like a turban. But for such elaborate braided hairstyles, it makes sense to ask for help from a friend or expert.
Braided hairstyles have already been fashionable for several seasons and we just can't get enough of them. The designers seem to feel the same way, since many exciting new braided hairstyles showed up on the runway, from wildly fanciful like Gretchen Jones to romantic by Moschino.
A braided hairstyle should definitely last all day. Work mousse into the hair and dry it as usual to create enough hold after washing. Then slippery strands which would otherwise escape from the braid have no chance. Dry and stubborn ends of braids turn shiny and supply with a bit of styling cream or hair oil in the tips.
