Spring/Summer 2015 Hair Accessory Trends

The 2015 Spring/Summer fashion show runways were full of hair accessories this year. From statement pieces to minimalist additions, hair accessories are the beauty trend of the season. Celebrity hair stylist Richard Collins, responsible for styling many of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, shows us how to wear three of the hottest hair accessory trends.

Collins says all things golden are incredibly chic, and golden barrettes and hair clips are no exception. No matter what your hair length or texture, this trend is a must-try this season. Start with a wide barrel curling iron on dry hair and create waves throughout your head. Make sure to spray Schwarzkopf styliste Ultime Crystal Shine and Hold Heat Protection Spray on each section of hair prior to curling. Collins says this will help protect your hair as well as help your curls last longer. Then back comb the back portion of the hair to add subtle volume and help the clip stay in place. Pick up a section of hair that’s the same width as the clip, and then snap the barrette in place. Set your look with Schwarzkopf styliste Ultime Biotin+ Texture and Volume H20 Free Hairspray for a little extra oomph.

Another on-trend hair accessory this season is understated, yet timeless. The ballerina headband, says Collins, in simplistic nude and black tones is capable of transforming the look of any on-the-go style. Start by applying Schwarzkopf essence Ultime Biotin+ Volume and Vitality Daily Wonder Serum to damp hair. Then, using your hands, pull your hair back into a low ponytail or a high top knot, and place the headband close to your forehead. It shouldn’t look too perfect, messy is good here. Collins says this is a perfectly chic option for those days when you just don’t have a lot of time to spend on your hair.

One of the most universally flattering of all the hair accessory trends this season is the head scarf. According to Collins, any woman can pull off this look. Start by adding Schwarzkopf styliste Ultime Satin Frizz Control and Protect Wax Powder to dry hair to create lots of texture. Then run a long scarf through a clear elastic band. The band should be in the middle of the scarf. Spread the ends of the scarf. Wrap the scarf around the top of your head along the hairline. Tie off the scarf at the back of your head. Bring one end of the scarf around to rest on your shoulder; Collins says this gives the look a modern twist. Finish up by spritzing Schwarzkopf styliste Ultime Elastin Curls and Moisture Soft Toussle Spray over the finished look, for even more texture and movement.

This season, take some inspiration from the runways and try an embellishment in your hair. With so many different trends to choose from, there’s a look to appeal to even the most minimalist fashionista. Be sure to stock up on all of your favorite Schwarzkopf products and follow celebrity hair stylist Richard Collins’ expert tips, and you’ll be rocking your accessory like a pro.
